Max Stern (geboren in Valley Stream, New York in 1947) baseerde de cantate voor contrabas (door Gary Karr) en orkest 'Haazinu' op 'The Song of Moses' (Deut. 32). Zijn 'Three ancient pieces' zijn ontleend aan authentieke orientaals-joodse en sefardische pijoetiem. Uitgevoerd door 'The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra' o.l.v. Arthur Fagen.
